US actress Lindsay Lohan has confessed that she's determined to salvage her ailing career, following a spell in prison earlier this summer.
During an interview in this month’s Vanity Fair, released in America this week, Lohan admits: “I know that in my past I was young and irresponsible—but that’s what growing up is. You learn from your mistakes.”
The actress defends her past behaviour by explaining that she associated with the wrong people. “I’ve admitted to the things that I’ve done…, dabbling in certain things and trying things ’cause I was young and curious and thought it was like, O.K., ’cause other people were doing it and other people put it in front of me. And I see what happened in my life because of it,” the 24 year old says.
The interview took place in July, one week before she served time in jail and rehab as part of her sentence for probation violation.
Lohan also addresses her difficult relationship with her father, Michael Lohan, in the interview. After discussing his tears in court, only to speak to the media about his daughter immediately after, she says: “I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life.”
She claims she wants to return to the screen in a bid to put the past behind her, saying: “I want my career back, I want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies and if that takes not going out to a club at night, then so be it. It’s not fun anyway,”
“I don’t care what anyone says. I know that I’m a damn good actress,” she added.
